A report on 2 cl's near Cheltenahm in a village called Swindon Village!

First one we went to was behind a church and £7 if you have leccy, cheaper if you dont use leccy. It was a bit cramped for 5 vans and quiet public with a path down one side. View out the back of the van was stininging nettles and side window was the footpath. They did sell free range eggs though. There was also a sign up asking leccy users to only use leccy for lighting and tv. Sod that I thought. I used it for hot water, battery charging and kettle! Don't get me wrong it was a lovely site in a very nice village, it was just a bit cramped and not secluded very much and only 4 leccy points.

The other site we saw down Quat Goose Lane looked lovely. If we had gone to look at the site sooner we would have moved there. £9 a night but it does have a loo block and a huge field for kids and dogs to play in the other side of the CL fence, the 2 chaps in the 2 houses chatted to us and seemed very pleasent. Also down the end of a dead end road so no through traffic either but the site was sited a long way off the road too.

Below are some photos of the cl's. First few are the one we stayed on and the last one is of the cl we wish we had gone too.

the public path

new site we would have moved too.

I have never tried a certified location site yet but must endeavour to do so one day.

they really do rock Patrick. so much cheaper than big sites and far better views most of the time and less people about and no passing traffic so better for children playing and most have leccy too. I love them.

We have gone for a CL for our main hols this year (well some of it) and have saved about £60 on the price of the CC site about a mile from it.  Leccy and shower block on site, so that will do nicely thank you!

Can any of you recommend a good CL near to where I reside so we can experience this?
Thanks.

We are off to Looe CC for 9 nights it is a bit pricey.  A CL would do me fine but wifey wants all the bells and whistles.

Ian,
I know exactly what you mean. At least with the caravan club site you already know the standard that you are going to get unlike some other sites. We experienced a bad time at a camping & caravanning site in Keswick, Lake District a couple of years ago. The place was like a mud bath, we had to have boards down. Needless to say, we never renewed our membership.

We use nothing but cl sites. We've stayed in some great sites with eh, hs and fantastic views from around £15 to as little as £8pn and if your prepared to live without hs and don't mind running on 12v and gas then there are some really nice sites (but very basic) for around £3pn! These kind of basic sites are great if your not going to be spending a lot of time in the van ie site seeing and just sleeping.       Mud bath, in the lake district? It never rains up here lol
