Solar Panels

Do any of you use solar panels when on non-hookup sites? My Dad uses one and insists that you need a 60 watt output to keep you topped up, but he watches Sky TV all day and night. Most caravan shops sell 25-40 watt panels but im not sure if they are going to be enough. What are your views on them?

I only use a trickle charger to keep the battery topped up when not plugged in at home. I am guessing you would need higher than 60 if it is in the winter as you use lights for longer and less sun to charge the batteries. in the summer you can use lower ones obviously. all depends what you are using to make you battery drain so fast in the first place really.

Go away for about 10 nights unhooked, and don't bother packing the telly. We survive OK, but have looked at them, but so far not bothered.

is that the 12s socket on the car? run your van off the car for a night, go for a drive the next day, battery all charged up for the next night. sorted and easy.

Mum and I always have a game of scrabble or 2 each day and have a couple of packs of cards. Sometimes even play Cribbidge if we remember the rules! Its alot nicer than watching tv I think.
